One of our core values that Waco First Assembly is that we are missions-minded. This is reflected foremost in that the first Sunday of every month, we have a missionary or missionary family come and present what they’re doing, where they’re going, and share a sacred word for our congregation. This is one aspect of Missions.

We are called by our Lord Jesus to go. Where? Into all the world to make disciples, people following after Jesus. We baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Another part of that mission is to be thankful. We are to be thankful to God for life, for family, for friends, for shelter, that we were designed for good works, that we get to partner with God and to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth. We are to be thankful even in the midst of suffering. We don’t have to be thankful for what is causing us suffering, but we are thankful that God loves us even while we’re suffering. God will turn everything to our good if we trust in him. So give thanks this week, not just for the amazing food and feast set before us by our relatives who can cook and have the gift of hospitality. We give thanks for life, for breath, for people to love, a mission to execute, a world to save in the love of Jesus Christ. We have the best news in the world to share with people, that Jesus died for their sins, was resurrected, and rose from the grave. He offers us eternal life instead of eternal death. He forgives us if we will accept his paying our unpayable  bill. Let’s be thankful for Jesus making intercession for us every day.

I’m thankful for you who read this message. I know the Father loves you, and I love you too. Blessings from your Waco First Assembly of God family this Thanksgiving—Missing you as part of our Family.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
