Waco First Assembly has started Monday-Friday 7-8 am prayer time, music, and then listening to the NASB Bible in chronological order. We are going all the way through all of the books of the Bible, in the dates they were written. So for our first week we heard/read eleven chapters of Genesis in the Creation Stories and then jumped to Job for that ancient chronicle. We are finishing Job this week and will hear Genesis, Psalms and more! What a journey with a fresh perspective reading them in the order written. Thanks Becca for piloting this program. Come join us 7am-8am Monday – Friday.

In reading Genesis again, I was struck by a thought. God shone His light before He created the sun and moon and stars. In Genesis 1:3 it is written that God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.  In Genesis 1:11 God created the “vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind” and in 1:12 “the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind and fruit trees bear fruit.” And “it was good.” God shone His light to sustain and grow all the plants.

In Revelation 21 God tells us about the new heavens and the new earth and we find we return to this state of God’s light providing the source of life.

23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; 26 and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27 and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 21:23-27  (NASB)

Won’t you get into the Lamb’s book of Life by receiving forgiveness and salvation from Jesus Christ? It will be exciting to be in the New Heavens and the New Earth after Jesus’s return and passing through Judgement Day. Bless God by choosing Him! He will light up your life. As the kids say, “Jesus is lit!”
